The Story

ViaCord was looking to roll out several new social media initiatives to support their marketing efforts and build momentum towards to the upcoming launch of their new website. Working with ViaCord’s social media agency, Pandemic Labs, Freshout executed three strategic projects to bolster ViaCord’s web presence and initiate more dialog with existing and potential customers: a topical blog for expecting couples with compelling content provided by Laurie Puhn, a relationship communications expert, family lawyer-mediator and best-selling author of “Instant Persuasion”; a corporate blog covering an array of topics related to stem cell research and medicine, and cord blood banking; and a rich media advertising campaign designed exclusively for inclusion on the popular site WhatToExpect.com, which caters its content towards expecting couples – ViaCord's exact target market.

Freshout executed three strategic projects to bolster ViaCord’s web presence.

When considering the design and implementation of the two ViaCord blogs, the timeline for completion was of top importance. Once we were able to rapidly gather the requirements and assess the information architecture and user experience approach, we moved to wireframing and designing the site pages. Receiving quick approval on the designs for both blogs, we were able to implement the CMS and develop the functionality within two weeks for each project using WordPress with Flutter as the foundation. We included such features as threaded commenting to allow for more structured dialog, Twitter feeds to pull in ViaCord’s tweets, and social bookmarking, among other standard blogging features. Both blogs have generated a significant audience since launch, and visitor traffic continues to increase.

The next project we worked on for ViaCord was developing all of the creative for a targeted advertising campaign with WhatToExpect.com. Using the base creative assets ViaCord provided, we developed 27 different designs that included multiple variations for A/B testing and focus group analysis. This project included a Flash animation, embedded video, HTML email templates, and banner advertisements – all with one unifying design theme. The campaign recently launched, and the response so far has been tremendously positive.
