The Story

With an active initial user base and a strong proof of concept, PlaySay was ready to take the next step and develop a properly designed site rich with a new feature set, along with an iPhone application, to both retain current users and attract a broader audience.

After carefully surveying the language learning market and planning a strategic implementation of PlaySay's new web initiatives, we dove into designing and building the user experience and feature-set - which included customizable playlist management, a flashcard word-practicing system, community sharing features, and advanced search and sort functionality for navigating a vast collection of words and playlists. Freshout also build a custom content management system which allowed PlaySay's site administrators to manage all of the site's content, as well as track extensive user conversion data and sales.

To market the service and offer users an alternate way to study, the iPhone app was developed to utilize PlaySay's core learning system in providing an intuitive flashcard user interface allowing users to browse and study playlists, as well as make purchases through the site. In order to offer a more effective way of learning a new language, the Leitner learning methodology was employed using an algorithm to allow users to rank their comprehension level of words they're studying. The iPhone app is currently awaiting approval for inclusion on iTunes.
